Crossroads Counseling & Consulting
for Individuals and Organizations in Transition
Welcome to my website! I am a licensed clinical social worker with advanced certification in clinical gerontology. In the past 30 years, it has been my privilege to work in the areas of trauma, women’s health, chronic stress, geriatric depression, work/life balance, and grief and bereavement. Along the way I’ve developed a special interest in working with Elders and their care partners.
I’ve created this site as a place to post resources about our shared journey to find a better balance in our lives, and I invite you to visit my blog, “Reflections from the Crossroads,” and join in the discussion there about Elder care, caregiver health and wellness, and the experience of aging in America.
In the coming months, I’ll be posting information about important topics including:
- How to have difficult conversations with your older loved one and other members of the family
- The real connection between stress and chronic illness (and what this means for every member of the care partner team!)
- When you should say “no” to caregiving and other requests (and how to do it!)
- The experience of professional care partners, such as home health workers, nurses, and clergy, and how to avoid burn-out.
I’ll offer information about resources, present best practices from my experience as a clinician, and share reading lists. I invite you to share your tips and discoveries, as your unique experiences are vital to the discussion.
Perhaps you are working hard on just caring for yourself right now – you are most welcome here, too!
My speaking and training schedule will be posted on these pages, and you can contact me to arrange for further information about a personal consultation, class, or retreat.
Thank you for allowing me to meet you here at the Crossroads, whether you are working as a healing professional, concerned about a family member or friend, or seeking a better balance in your own life.
My intention is to make this a warm and welcoming place to share quality information, provide support, and encourage the rest and respite we all need and deserve for optimal emotional, spiritual, and physical health.
Drop me a line to let me know what you’re looking for and how I can help. I’m looking forward to our time together!
